Paul Merson shares Leeds United relegation prediction live on Sky Sports
Paul Merson has admitted he would be shocked if Leeds United were relegated from the Premier League despite their 4-1 defeat against Arsenal on 01 April.
The Whites travelled to the Premier League leaders on Saturday and despite a strong start, class eventually told in the heavy defeat for Javi Gracia.
Merson does not see that ending in relegation though, with the need for someone such as Patrick Bamford to step up as a natural goalscorer again needed.
Speaking live on Sky Sports News [01 April: 05:24], Merson shared his verdict on the Whites after what he saw at the Emirates Stadium in the heavy defeat.
“I’d be quite surprised if they went down,” he said. “I really would.
“I think they played with energy but needed that bit of luck. If Bamford played today, they might have scored a couple more goals. I don’t think they’re very calculated in front of goal.

“They ain’t got a natural goalscorer in their team. They have good chances and get in good positions but you never really feel they’re going to score.
“Who was it? Harrison had a great little move with Summerville, who was lively. He had a shot straight at the goalkeeper. If it was down low, he would have probably scored.
“I’d be shocked if they went down.”
Baffling.
Given the attacking talent available to Leeds and Gracia, there is no chance that we should be talking about a problem in the final third.
Willy Gnonto is currently out injured and hopefully will return soon, but even on the bench yesterday, Leeds had Rodrigo, Patrick Bamford and Georginio Rutter.
The Whites then started with Crysencio Summerville, Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra, who are all capable of finding the back of the net with ease – not that you could have told.
Summerville was the guilty party at the Emirates, missing two clear chances before Arsenal took the lead from the penalty spot, something that could have changed it all.
Leeds will know that these aren’t the games that will keep them in the Premier League though, with two huge clashes against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace next up at Elland Road.
Let’s hope we find that natural goalscorer before those two come to town.
