Paul Merson predicts result of Leeds United clash v Chelsea
Leeds United will travel to Stamford Bridge to face Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.
Ahead of the match football pundit Paul Merson has predicted a 3-0 defeat for the Whites.
Leeds are undefeated in their last three games and are heading into this fixture on the back of a 2-2 draw against Brentford.
Merson feels that the Whites are miles behind the Blues and expect the home side to keep a clean sheet as well.
“This is a big game for Chelsea. They were poor against a West Ham side that wasn’t really going anywhere and have a few defensive issues to fix at the moment,” wrote Merson for SportsKeeda.
“[Edouard] Mendy has been absolutely outstanding so far but made a mistake against West Ham – Tuchel will just have to let it go at this point.
“Chelsea still have miles too much for Leeds, and they did give them the run-around last season. Leeds haven’t been major goalscorers in the Premier League this season and I think Chelsea will go back to keeping a clean sheet in this game.”
Chelsea are heading into this match on the back of a 3-3 draw against Zenit in the Champions League clash on Wednesday.
Prior to that, the Blues lost 3-2 against West Ham in the Premier League clash.
They are leaking in goals, and Leeds will look to exploit that opportunity.
However, the Whites themselves are struggling to score this season, and their poor injury record is making life difficult for Marcelo Bielsa.
Just when it seemed like Leeds are getting back their full-strength squad, Bielsa has been dealt with yet another massive injury blow.
Kalvin Phillips is set to undergo surgery and he will be out for a few months. Patrick Bamford has picked up an injury again, while the likes of Rodrigo and Liam Cooper are being ruled out for the trip to Stamford Bridge.
It won’t be an easy task to get a positive result away from home, but Leeds should be confident of getting something from this game.
