Paul Merson predicts Leeds United v Leicester City Premier League six pointer

Paul Merson predicts Leeds United and Leicester City to share the spoils when the two sides meet at Elland Road on Tuesday, 25 April.

With both teams battling relegation, three points are crucial not just for the individual sides but also to ensure that their opponents are handed a further setback in the race.

Leeds are currently in 16th place with 29 points while Leicester are 17th and a point shy of Javi Gracia’s side.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Merson said, predicting a 1-1 result, “Leicester pulled off a phenomenal result last week. They were 1-0 down to Wolves and with the way they’ve been playing, completing a comeback and winning the game will give them so much confidence.

“Leicester made some changes against Wolves, and I think they needed to do that. They’ve got Leeds and Everton up next and if they win both games, they’re safe. This is a big week for them.

“This is a huge football match, and it’s a hard one to call. Leeds have conceded 11 goals in their last two home games. I think Leeds will be very cagey this week. They play gung-ho football at home, but I don’t think they’ll do that this time. I think we’ll see a draw in this match.”

Need the win

Leeds haven’t played gung-ho football for a while so we’re not totally sure where Merson’s coming from.

They have been passive and played on the counter attack and ironically, that’s what has cost them more goals than an open and expansive approach would.

It’s time he takes the shackles off the players and sets up a more attacking team in order to pick up the three points.

Elland Road will be buzzing and Leeds need to prove that it’s a fortress and make things hard for Leicester en route to a win.

They’re one point clear of the Foxes and will go four clear with a win – a big lead at this juncture in the season – and one Gracia will need to prove he’s the right man for the job.

His team selections in the past have been shocking, to say the least, and it’s time he starts picking the right players for the Whites.

In other Leeds United news, a Whites player has a potential offer on the table and could seal his permanent Elland Road exit this summer.
