Paul Merson predicts Leeds United showdown v Crystal Palace

Paul Merson has backed Crystal Palace to ease past Leeds United on Monday evening in the Premier League.

The Sky Sports pundit has predicted that it will finish 2-0 to the Eagles at Selhurst Park, putting the Whites in relegation danger.

After Burnley beat Southampton last night, they can go within two points of Leeds with a win over Wolves on Sunday afternoon.

Writing in his Sportskeeda column, Merson didn’t hold much hope for the Whites in the capital this time around.

“If Burnley win their next two matches, Leeds are still in danger,” he said.

“The other teams will need to pull up trees to get Leeds back into a relegation fight.

“Crystal Palace are a great team, and I think they’ll have too much for Leeds. This is a hard game for Leeds, and I think Palace are the better team at the moment. Crystal Palace should be able to win this game.”

We are approaching another period where Leeds simply cannot afford to lose games in the Premier League.

Burnley were basically handed three points against Southampton last night, with the away side putting in one of the worst displays we have ever seen.

That is typical, of course, when we are in this battle, with no side giving us an easy ride, but that is what we have to deal with.

Crystal Palace will be licking their wounds after defeats against Chelsea and Newcastle, and they have injury issues of their own.

Leeds need to take advantage of that having had nearly two weeks off, with their fresh legs a daunting prospect for any side.

We are in a position where our future is in our own hands, win games and this danger will quickly disappear, let’s start here.
