Paul Merson has claimed that Leeds United “ran out of ideas” once Arsenal went down to 10-men in the 0-0 draw last week.
The Sky Sports pundit used the 4-1 defeat against Leicester as an example of how to beat the Whites and tore apart their defence.
It was a welcome clean sheet for Marcelo Bielsa’s men, who somehow failed to walk away with all three points despite hitting the woodwork three times.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Merson claimed that Arsenal would likely have beaten the Whites if they had attackers who could take on their defenders with ease.
“They [Arsenal] were a million miles off Leeds last Sunday,” he said.

This is certainly a back-handed compliment from Merse.
On one hand, Leeds were miles better than the Gunners, an established Premier League side. But, on the other, they were nowhere near good enough going forward.
The Whites did keep 66.3% possession as well as having 16 more shots according to WhoScored, and it did feel like one of those games where they were never going to score – no matter how long they played.
It’s a harsh verdict from Merson, as he basically tore Leeds apart despite them completely destroying Arsenal from the first whistle.
Time to put this right against Everton.
