Patrick Bamford ‘very lucky’ after Leeds United incident v Nottingham Forest – Sky Sports pundit

Paul Robinson felt Patrick Bamford was “very lucky” not to give away a penalty after the Leeds United striker nearly handled the ball in the penalty area during the 2-1 Premier League win victory over Nottingham Forest.

The 29-year-old appeared to raise his arm as Emmanuel Dennis hit the post for the visitors in the early stages of the Whites’ victory win at Elland Road on Tuesday (4 April).

Robinson felt the Forest man was extremely unlucky not to hit the back of the net or earn his side a spot kick during the incident.

“It’s Patrick Bamford it comes off. He’s very lucky it doesn’t hit his hand. Emmanuel Dennis is really unlucky,” said the Sky Sports pundit (Premier League World Feed, 19:54, 4 April).

On the whole, that was an excellent performance from Javi Gracia’s side. They were completely deserving of the victory and will head into the weekend’s fixture against Crystal Palace in a good mood. There were a number of standout performances, with Jack Harrison, Marc Roca and Weston McKennie catching the eye.

The Spaniard will be particularly pleased with how his side came from behind after falling behind in the 12th minute. Their response was excellent and the display against Steve Cooper’s men ranks amongst the season’s best. As for Bamford, the 29-year-old struggled to make a significant impact before he was substituted.

He’s still looking to find his top form and desperately needs a goal to kickstart his 2022/23 season, but, after his performance against Forest, it would not be a surprise to see Gracia use a different striker when Roy Hodgson’s side make the trip to Elland Road on Sunday (9 April).
