Patrick Bamford update emerges in Leeds United team news v Queens Park Rangers
Daniel Farke has confirmed Patrick Bamford is a “major doubt” to play for Leeds United vs QPR on Friday 27 April with a bruised knee.
The striker scored in Monday 22 April’s win over Middlesbrough to help the team cement second place in the table, but suffered a knock and is now unlikely to feature.
Daniel James has already been ruled out of the game with a muscle tear in his abdomen, while Pascal Struijk and Jamie Shackleton are also out of the game as confirmed by the boss during his pre-game press conference (25 April).
“Normally, with James’s injury you are out for two to three weeks,” he said. “Twelve days. Normally.
“Bit of hope still. Our medical team are working 24 hours a day to make him available for the last game. Realistic to say he will probably miss the game [vs Southampton], but a nice surprise if he does make it.
“All the players came through Monday. Few hits and knocks causing late decisions. Only major doubt is Bamford because he got a big bruise on his knee.”
Leeds United know what they need to do for promotion
Regardless of which players are available or unavailable to Farke for this game, the team know exactly what they need to do – win.
There is no room for error anymore with just two games remaining in the campaign, but with Ipswich sitting one point behind the Whites with a game-in-hand.
All that Leeds can do is win both of their games with the hope that Kieran McKenna’s side falter once more to give them the advantage, and that starts at Loftus Road against a team who are still very much in the mix for relegation at the other end of the table.

Daniel James is a big loss with his abdominal injury but thankfully Rodon is fine which means the strongest defence in the division can remain together.
With Bamford a big doubt it’s a shame but with Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph both vying for a place in the side, there are no excuses. This team is strong enough to win, and they must.
