Patrick Bamford to knock on Daniel Farke’s door after Leeds United decison
Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford will be knocking on Daniel Farke’s door after he was named on the bench again at Swansea, Jon Newsome has said.
Joel Piroe was given the nod ahead of Mateo Joseph and Bamford as the Whites picked up an incredible 4-3 win in Wales on Sunday (24 November).
The former Swans man has the best scoring record of the three options but struggled as Dan James stole the headlines with three assists.
Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds [24 November, 14:10], Newsome said: “Neither [Joseph or Piroe] have nailed down that starting striker position and I just wonder at what point does Patrick Bamford come into that decision.
“I’m sure when he is fit, and he has been fit, he is knocking on the manager’s door saying when do I get my chance.
“If neither of them have done enough to really make that starting position their own, I am not saying Bamford is the answer but surely there comes a time when he does come into the conversation.”
Patrick Bamford needs to show he deserves Leeds United start
The former Chelsea academy graduate revived his career when he moved to Yorkshire and has notched 60 goals and 22 assists in 194 matches for Leeds.
However, he has been in poor form recently, the 30-year-old has not contributed in his seven appearances so far this season and has scored just 14 times in the last four seasons.
In fact, he has not scored for the club since the 4-3 victory last season over Middlesbrough on 22 April and could be set for an exit soon.

The two options ahead of him in the pecking order are contributing more than him at the moment, with Piroe and Joseph on eight and five goal contributions respectively.
Therefore, it makes no sense to drop either of them for the veteran, who does not look like the dominant force he once was in England’s second tier.
The Englishman needs to show Farke that he deserves to start over the younger options but right now, he does not warrant a starting spot.
