Patrick Bamford has shared that the Leeds United squad have been discussing the London curse during training at Thorp Arch.
Leeds have only won one of their previous 24 visits to the capital, including four this season where they have conceded 14 goals.
Bamford admitted that it is never brought up going into games in the capital, but should they lose, it is the first thing discussed after the clash.
Speaking on the official Leeds United podcast, Bamford looked at the positives that the squad have two more chances to put it right this season.
“We actually, when we were running around the track today, we were speaking about it,” he said.
“Coops was like ‘I consider Luton as London, and we won there’
“We’ve still got West Ham away this year to play in London. I don’t actually know what that curse is because the players, we never speak about it going into the game, but in the showers, after then it’s brought up if we’ve lost.
“We’ve got two more shots this year.”
Even Marcelo Bielsa can’t stop the rut in London.
El Loco is yet to pick up a single win in the capital during his three years in West Yorkshire, although we are happy to give him the 2-1 victory at Kennilworth Road last season.
With Fulham and West Ham still to come, something has to change this season, and both are great opportunities to pick up three points.
The Irons are fighting for European football, and with Fulham desperate for survival, both have something to play for.
Bamford and the squad may not talk about it massively, but it is clearly on their minds, the quicker this is over, the better.
