Patrick Bamford shares what has frustrated him about Leeds lately

Patrick Bamford admits he has been frustrated due to a recent alteration to the playing style at Leeds United.

The striker’s goals have dried up in recent matches simply because he has not had the chances, which he explained in an interview with BBC Radio Leeds.

Bamford, who Micah Richards labelled “incredible” last month [Daily Mail], admitted he is a bit frustrated by the Whites’ decline as an attacking threat, though he accepted it has made the team harder to score against.

He said, “I don’t think I’ve had a shot in God knows how long. I had one against Liverpool which hit the bar and I think that’s the only shot I’ve had in the last five games.

“We defend as a whole team but I feel like we need to find a balance between the defensive side and the chance creation.

“Before people were creating a lot of chances against us but we were creating a lot of chances ourselves but now it’s gone the opposite way, so it’s frustrating for me as a striker.”

Finding the right balance

Leeds of the last few games have been completely different to the side that started life in the Premier League.

And while the development has been largely positive given we picked up results against Liverpool and the two Manchester clubs in recent weeks, we do miss our entertaining style a little.

Bamford has suffered without the likes of Raphinha and Rodrigo in the side, and our lack of chances does raise questions about the role of others, particularly Tyler Roberts.

That is not good enough for a club in our position, regardless of whether Marcelo Bielsa has looked to tighten things up.

It will be interesting to see if the Leeds boss throws the shackles off in our last four games, though knowing Bielsa that is unlikely to happen.
