Patrick Bamford has shared a conversation with Andrea Radrizzani after Leeds United pulled off a miraculous win at Manchester City.
The Whites striker was dragged off after Liam Cooper was sent off, with Pascal Struijk coming off the bench to defend the expected barrage.
Radrizzani thanked Bamford for his sacrifice, although the talisman admitted that he wouldn’t have chosen to come off at The Etihad.
Speaking on the official Leeds United Podcast, Bamford admitted that he still wasn’t happy to be sacrificed by Marcelo Bielsa.
“I actually got a message from Andrea saying ‘thank you, you sacrificed yourself for the team, well done,” he said.
“I was like, I did not choose to come off. No, I was like it was a for a good cause in a great win.”
Bamford was crucified in the podcast, and although he jokes about it, he still wouldn’t have been happy to be missing out.
Having said that, he was more than happy to see the Whites pick up another brilliant three points in the Premier League in our first season back in the big time in 16 years.
Radrizzani is one of the main men to thank for these achievements, and it is still very clear how involved he is with every single member of this team.
Bamford will be straight back into the team for the next huge clash against Liverpool on Monday evening at Elland Road, and he will want another goal just as he did at Anfield on the first day of the season.
