Patrick Bamford shares Kalvin Phillips text after Leeds United striker starts podcast
Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford has shared what Kalvin Phillips messaged him after he found out the Whites striker had started a podcast.
The 30-year-old who has been a bit part player under Daniel Farke in the Championship this season, making 12 appearances from the bench but failing to find the net, has started a new BBC podcast with comedian Joe Wilkinson.
Since starting the podcast, Bamford revealed that he had received a Whatsapp message from former Leeds and England teammate Philipps, who was quick to rave about Wilkinson and praised him for starting the project.

Speaking on the My Mate’s A Footballer podcast (14 December, 7:00) he said: “He actually messaged, do you want to hear what he said about you? He’s a big fan, he likes you. First of all, he couldn’t believe that I got to be on a pod with you.
“That was his first thing and then he thinks you’re hilarious and very funny.”
Connection still there
It may have been a little while since Phillips last lined up in a Leeds United kit, but it is clear that the Manchester City midfielder still has a number of ties to the Elland Road club as he remains in good contact with Bamford and likely more of his former teammates.
That side that one promotion from the Championship under Marcelo Bielsa and managed to stay up in the Premier League twice were an incredibly close-knit group and this is just evidence of the ties that the team made under the Argentine’s management.

Farke will have been hoping to create a similar team spirit and Elland Road this season and judging by the Whites’ impressive start to the Campaign, it is having the desired impact as Leeds are well and truly in the race for automatic promotion.
What would be extra special is if Bamford manages to find a way to get Phillips to join up with Farke’s side in January when the transfer window opens. Currently, that remains nothing more than wishful thinking, but if Leeds return to the Premier League, it is the sort of move that is certainly possible.
