Patrick Bamford names the 20y/o defender he would love Bielsa to sign at Leeds
Patrick Bamford said that if money was no object, he would like to see Alphonso Davies sign for Leeds United.
The 20-year-old left-back signed for Bayern Munich for £9m two years ago and is now the number one choice in his position.
He’s also the number one choice for Bamford, who cheekily said that Leeds were sorted in the number nine position.
Transfermarkt has his value listed at a whopping £72m – not a bad increase over two years.
Talking on the official Leeds United podcast, Bamford said, “If I could sign anyone, money’s no object.
“Money’s no object… Right, so let’s think about it position-wise. Number nine we’re pretty much sorted.
“Do you know what, I’d sign, especially with the way we play, the left-back from Bayern Munich, Alphonso Davies.
“The way we attack, literally our full-backs sometimes play as wingers, we are very attacking and he was just, he came into my head quite quickly then. He’d be a perfect fit. Leeds fans don’t get excited, I don’t think it’s going to happen.”
Leeds do need a left-back…
If you’re going to aim high, why not aim high?
Alphonso Davies has enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top of the pile at Bayern Munich and he made history in December when the Canadian became the first North American player ever to be voted onto the FIFPRO World 11.
He was the first North American player to be voted into the World 55 and went one step further in December.
As quoted on CBC he said, “Christmas came early this year. “Thank you to everyone who voted for me. Keep working hard and chasing your dreams.”
Leeds do need a left-back, with Stuart Dallas playing there and Gjanni Alioski filling in when Dallas is played elsewhere.
Davies might have to wait to sign at Elland Road, though, along with Erling Haaland, until we’re back in the Champions League.
