Patrick Bamford Leeds United talks ahead after Elland Road landmark – Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson has suggested Patrick Bamford’s form between now and the end of the season will have a significant impact on his future at Leeds United.

The 29-year-old has endured a difficult campaign due to injuries and has been linked with a move away from Elland Road (Fichajes, 5 April).

Bamford netted his 50th goal for the Whites during the 5-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace and Robinson has claimed his future could depend on a productive end to the season.

“He’s had that 50th goal hanging over him for a while so to get that was good. I thought he was sluggish against Forest and apart from his goal yesterday I don’t think he had much of an impact,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“Since his injury, he’s not come back to his previous levels that he’s set himself but it’s difficult to play in a team that isn’t providing chances.

“He’s seemed a little bit off the pace. He had one really good season where he set standards that he’s not been able to get back to.

“He’s had one and a half good seasons at Leeds but since then he’s had injuries which have kept him out of the side.

“If he plays well and scores goals between now and the end of the season, it’s a different conversation to have on his future.”

Apart from Bamford’s first-half header, it was an afternoon to forget for Javi Gracia’s side. The Eagles were clinical on the counterattack and produced a fine second-half performance to plunge Leeds back into trouble.

Next up for the Whites is another Elland Road fixture, with Liverpool making the trip to West Yorkshire.
