Patrick Bamford injury update shared after Leeds United 4-0 defeat v Queens Park Rangers

Patrick Bamford is still days away from recovering from his knee injury that saw him miss Leeds United’s 4-0 defeat to QPR on Friday 26 April.

The Whites striker was seen with the squad hobbling off the team coach but wasn’t named in the squad as Daniel Farke’s side crumbled and may have thrown automatic promotion away.

Leeds now must hope for Ipswich to fumble in one of their two games in hand to stand a chance in the final game of the season, and journalist Adam Pope revealed on his personal X account (26 April) after the game that star striker Bamford is still not recovered from his knee issue.

“Bamford a few days away from recovering from a bruised knee,” he wrote.

Leeds United hopeful of a double miracle for promotion

The performance against Queens Park Rangers was absolutely embarrassing from Leeds, especially considering they knew the state of play going into the game for their promotion chase.

Being forced to play on Monday and then Friday was an abysmal decision from the league and the broadcasters, and the knock that Bamford picked up in Monday 22 April’s win over Middlesbrough may now cost the team promotion.

Some of the chances that the team managed to convert would have been perfect for the striker, who is always at his best with one touch finishes in and around the six-yard box.

But with Bamford not present the team was lacking that killer edge in front of goal and they fell incredibly short defensively.

Fans will now not only be hoping that Ipswich fumble their chance at sealing automatic promotion before the final day, but also that Bamford is fully fit and recovered to potentially fire them up if they get the chance.

In other Leeds news, the club want to sign this international goalkeeper ahead of a Premier League side this summer.
