Patrick Bamford injury update emerges at Leeds United ahead of clash v Burnley
Patrick Bamford could return from injury to feature for Leeds United against Burnley after the international break, according to Leeds Live.
The outlet reported on its website on Sunday (8 September) that while the former England international missed the win over Hull City last time out, he could return to the fold for Saturday (14 September) afternoon’s clash.
Bamford has yet to make a Championship start for the Whites this term after his pre-season was disrupted by injury and he has instead had to settle for second-half cameos having slipped down the pecking order.
Patrick Bamford injury update emerges at Leeds United and Elland Road
While it is unlikely that Bamford will start against the Clarets, it would be a major boost to Daniel Farke and Leeds United supporters if the Englishman was at least able to take his place on the bench against the Clarets.
It seems obvious now that Mateo Joseph is the first choice number nine at Elland Road, with Joel Piroe and Bamford scrapping it out behind the Spanish youth international, but the 20-year-old is going to need some support.
Bamford may not be the most popular figure in Farke’s side and there are plenty of supporters who wanted him sold this summer, but he does still offer a different presence at the top of the pitch that cannot be undervalued.
His goalscoring record in the second half of last season kept the Whites in the automatic promotion race and while he ultimately didn’t manage to fire them back to the Premier League, he showed that he can still cut it at this level.

Hopefully, the 31-year-old will not only get himself fit for the clash with Burnley but also then stay fit for the remainder of the season. Bamford repeatedly picking up new injuries isn’t doing him or Leeds any good.
Farke should provide a more concrete update on the forward’s condition sooner rather than later ahead of the visit of Scott Parker’s side.
