Patrick Bamford in Munich to undergo surgery as Leeds United injury update emerges

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford is currently in Munich for a groin operation, as reported by Yorkshire Evening Post.

The Whites striker will be accompanied by the club’s head of medicine and performance, Rob Price. The England striker is expected to be back within the next two weeks.

YEP reports [4 December] that the operation on the “inguinal canal” is a minor one, and the player will be able to run and train in a matter of days after the procedure.

Too many injuries

Bamford has been suffering a lot with injuries in the last 18 months.

He made only nine appearances in the Premier League last season, and has made only four starts in the 2022-23 season thus far.

The Whites striker missed the games against Bournemouth and Tottenham with a hip injury. He has recovered from that, but then felt discomfort on his groin.

The club felt that it would be better if he undergoes an operation now, and return fully fit after the World Cup break.

Bamford, 29, remains a key player for the Whites, but his recurrent injuries are a huge cause for concern.

If he can’t play 25-30 games a season, it becomes really difficult for the manager to formulate plans, especially when he is the club’s first-choice senior striker.

The likes of Rodrigo, Cry Summerville and others have chipped in with goals in recent games, but Jesse Marsch should still look to sign a new striker at the club in January.

Let’s hope Bamford can return strongly and stay injury free for the rest of the season.
