Patrick Bamford heaps praise on 'teacher' Marcelo Bielsa
Leeds star Patrick Bamford has heaped praise on manager Marcelo Bielsa, admitting he learns something new every day under the Argentine.
Bamford has cemented himself as the starting striker for the Yorkshire side since Bielsa’s arrival at the club in 2018, but has missed much of the campaign this season through injury.
Without him, Leeds have struggled to just 16 points from 17 games and are in a relegation bout with Bielsa coming under increasing amounts of pressure after a 7-0 humiliation against Manchester City in midweek.
But Bamford, who has managed two goals and two assists in five Premier League starts this season, has heaped praise on his manager.
While speaking to Shoot, the 28-year-old claims there is no limit to how much he can improve under his tutelage.
“As soon as I started working with him, I realised I’d never worked with another manager who is even remotely similar,” he said.

“The best way to explain it is that you literally learn something new from him every single day – he’s like a teacher.
“He’s always adding that extra bit of detail to your game, looking for improvements.
“Under him I believe there is no limit to how much I can improve because of what he can offer me as a manager.
“I really appreciate everything he has done for me so far and I think all the boys do.”
Key player
Bamford has established himself as a key player to the Leeds side under Bielsa and his absence is a big reason behind the poor form at Elland Road.
Without Bamford the team don’t have a reliable goalscorer up front and they have suffered from a lack of goals this season, scoring just 17 times so far.
His return from injury will likely see an upturn in form, but with the once-capped international not due back until January Bielsa must find a new solution.
It’s clear that despite the pressure from the outside, Bielsa is still loved by everyone inside the club and that is a big positive for him if he is to turn this situation around and keep them in the division.
