Patrick Bamford fires sly dig at Daniel Farke as Frank Lampard admission made

Patrick Bamford’s move to Sheffield United has allowed him to open up on his feelings from his time at Leeds United.

After an agreement was reached to terminate his contract at Elland Road in the summer, Bamford completed a short-term move to Sheffield United last week.

The Englishman signed a deal until January, where he will play under Chris Wilder, the man he led an explicit chant at the expense of after the Whites achieved promotion.

However, his move to Bramall Lane has allowed the striker to speak out about his time under Farke, and he was bemused that one of his former teammates never got a look in.

Daniel Farke indirectly questioned for Joe Gelhardt treatment

Especially over the last 12 months, Bamford himself never really got much of a look in.

A mixture of injuries and just generally dreadful form contributed to that, with the 32-year-old failing to score a single goal in the previous campaign.

However, he wasn’t the only striker who played very seldomly, with Joe Gelhardt also not fancied at all by Daniel Farke.

Gelhardt is now thriving on loan at Hull City, where he has registered 10 goal contributions in 16 appearances, leading to Bamford questioning why Farke never utilised him, though his wording of the query certainly makes it out to be more of a dig towards his favouritism.

“I used to try and help him as much as I could because I could see that he had the potential to be really good,” Bamford said in his first interview for the Blades.

“He was probably one of the best trainers, but never got a look in for whatever reason.”

Frank Lampard wanted to sign Patrick Bamford

Bamford was also training with Coventry City before moving to Sheffield United, though a deal at the Championship leaders never came to fruition.

However, Bamford has since revealed that Lampard was happy to take him a the CBS Arena, only to have the deal pulled away by the Sky Blues’ owner, Doug King.

He said: “It was an interesting one, and obviously, I knew Frank [Lampard] from my time at Chelsea, and so I went down, and I thought either way, training with the team is better, but it’s not the same.

“Everything was pretty much done, and then the owner decided he didn’t want to do the deal. I spoke to Frank and he apologised, he said he was happy to have me in there.
