Patrick Bamford expected to make Leeds United return v Brisbane Roar

Patrick Bamford is reportedly expected to make a return to the Leeds United team against Brisbane Roar, having missed the friendly against Blackpool.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, he’s likely to feature at the Cbus Super Stadium in Queensland on Thursday, July 14.

They even included a few quotes from the England international himself who claims that he’s training normally and is ready ahead of the new season.

Bamford said, “I pretty much spent the offseason working through it and just trying to get myself in the best possible shape to come back, ready.

“To be fair, it’s fine – I’m able to train fully and do everything as normal.”

Hope he stays fit

Last season was a disastrous one not just for Leeds but for Bamford on an individual level as well.

He was vilified throughout the Championship season in which the Whites secured promotion to the top flight.

Many thought that Rodrigo would be the one replacing him and leading the line, but the Englishman had a phenomenal goal-scoring campaign.

However, in 2021/22, he struggled to stay fit and suffered injuries on multiple muscles which saw him fight a losing battle.

Nobody in the squad could replace him and we’re hoping that he’s fit for the entirety of the coming season.

Even if the Whites sign a striker who’s better than him, having a player like Bamford in reserve is imperative and Leeds must see to his fitness and not overwork him.
