Patrick Bamford details what happened amid Leeds United changing room bust-up reports
Patrick Bamford has revealed nothing out of the ordinary went on in the Leeds United changing room during their defeat to Crystal Palace last season despite reports a fight took place.
Speaking on the BBC’s My Mate’s A Footballer podcast on Thursday (21 March), the 30-year-old said people were shouting at each other because the Whites had conceded just before the break to make it 1-1, with Palace going on to win the game 5-1 at Elland Road.
The English forward admitted there have been actual bust-ups where players have had to be separated during his time at the club, but he reaffirmed that nothing of that nature happened during that particular match.
“They scored just before half-time, so it was 1-1,” said Bamford. “We ended up losing 5-1. Afterwards, it came out that there was this fight in the changing room. There wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. People were maybe shouting a little bit because we’d just conceded before half-time.
“I’ve been in the changing room where there’s been actual bust-ups at Leeds – like people have had to be separated, but that game, where everyone thinks there was one, there actually wasn’t. I guess it’s an easy way to explain the fact that we came out and lost 5-1.”
Tensions were high amongst Leeds United squad
It sounds as though tensions were high amongst some of the players during that game against Palace, but it didn’t boil over as much as some reports suggested.
Bamford isn’t really someone to hold back, as has been seen during his podcast, so there is a good chance he would have lifted the lid if anything else had gone on.
If the players were frustrated at half-time when they were level, then there were probably some choice words shared after they conceded four goals in the second half.

That is, quite frankly, a time that the Whites fans want to push to the very back of their memory as it was an extremely disappointing period for the club.
They have enjoyed some much better times already this year under Daniel Farke and they’ll be hoping a return to the Premier League can be secured in the next few weeks.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are ready to sell a midfielder for £10.3million after what he told the media.
