Pascal Struijk update as Leeds United team arrive for Birmingham clash

Adam Pope has shared that Pascal Struijk has not been spotted arriving with the Leeds United squad for the Birmingham clash on Monday 1 January.

The BBC journalist shared the team news ahead of the Championship clash at Elland Road, with the Dutchman having missed the defeat at West Brom too.

Daniel Farke was optimistic of having his captain available for the game, but it looks as though it may have come too soon after his groin issue.

He wrote on X: “Haven’t seen Struijk with squad. Poveda is here.”

Issues.

No matter what game this season, it simply hasn’t worked with Liam Cooper starting.

That isn’t an insult to him personally, but it has been at its best for Farke when he has Struijk partnering with Joe Rodon at the heart of his side.

It looks as though the back four may remain very similar to what we saw at The Hawthorns then unless Charlie Cresswell gets the nod for a rare start.

With the transfer window now open, links have already emerged with the young centre-back potentially leaving the club, so it would be a good time to show him he has a future at Elland Road.

Farke has a decision to make because it was a shocking display at West Brom, with no real commitment and boring football, something Struijk can usually help.

With the FA Cup next up for Leeds, if they can pick up the three points regardless of how they play today, it will give those carrying injuries a perfect chance to recover quickly.
