Pascal Struijk ruled out as positive news emerges for Leeds United v Leicester City

Leeds United will be without Pascal Struijk and Sam Byram for the huge Championship clash versus Leicester City on Friday, Daniel Farke has confirmed.

Jaidon Anthony is back in training and available after personal reasons, while Patrick Bamford has returned to training also although is still a major doubt to play in the game.

Karl Darlow is also back in training but is still unavailable for now, while Byram and Struijk continue to be unavailable with injuries according to the boss.

“Jaidon Anthony is back in training and also available, good news,” he said. “Karl is also back in main parts of team training. Just waiting for him to reach his match sharpness.

“With Sam I expect him to be back in training next week, he will definitely miss this game. With Patrick it’s more positive. We have another session and it could be that he’s back, and then he has a tiny little chance of being in the squad. He will definitely be back next week though.

“Struijk has been allowed to extend his training loan, and if everything works in a perfect way then he will be back in team training. I expect him to be back after the international break.”

Leeds United have real automatic promotion chance now

Leeds United know that they have a fantastic chance of securing promotion with a win over Leicester, because of the amazing form they’ve been in.

The Whites have won every game in 2024 and are unbeaten at Elland Road all season. And with Southampton suffering defeat to Hull in midweek, there is a greater chance for them to move ahead in the race for automatic promotion.

It’s also a chance to close the gap at the top of the table, and after already beating Leicester once this season at the King Power Stadium there should be great confidence within the team.

A win makes the gap six points and puts a small gap between them and the chasing gap behind them, albeit potentially only for 24 hours, but psychologically it’s huge.

The injury news is largely positive with some important attacking players returning to contention, so fans have every right to be expectant of a good performance and result on Friday night.
