Pascal Struijk now set to see specialist as Leeds United injury update emerges

Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk is set to see a specialist about the adductor injury which has kept him out of action in recent games, according to Joe Donnohue.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist, taking to his Twitter account (2 January) has shared that Daniel Farke will not be taking any risks with Struijk for their FA Cup clash against Peterborough on Sunday 7 January.

Struijk has missed the Whites’ last two games through injury, including the 3-0 win over Birmingham (1 January) but is expected back for the next Championship game against Cardiff City on 13 January.

Pivotal

Struijk has undergone his fair share of injury issues this season and fans may be forgiven for thinking what might have been had he been fit for most of their 26 games so far this campaign.

The 1-0 loss to West Brom before the new year was mightily disappointing and Struijk’s absence for that game was extremely telling as the Whites did not defend Grady Diangana’s goal as well as they should.

Leeds United

No club will want a player as good as Struijk to be a constant injury burden on them so it is the correct decision that he’s gone to see a specialist to determine the extent of the problem he has.

Leeds United can certainly afford to miss him against Peterborough with Liam Cooper and Joe Rodon a very capable pairing but when the Cardiff City clash comes around, Farke will be praying the Dutchman is 100 per cent for that crucial encounter.

He’s simply too pivotal to miss an extended run of games.
