Pascal Struijk names Leeds star as man of the match vs Nottingham Forest – and it’s not Ilia Gruev

Leeds United secured a huge win on Friday.

Daniel Farke’s side were able to maintain their six-point gap to the bottom three, as they beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at Elland Road.

Leeds have been excellent at home this term, having won double the number of their relegation rivals on their own turf.

Goals from Jayden Bogle, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin sealed the deal, seeing Forest now sit just three points above the drop zone.

Whites centre-back Pascal Strujk has named his Man of the Match from Friday’s win. And it is not the expected Ilia Gruev, who put in a fantastic performance with two assists.

Pascal Struijk hails Jayden Bogle after Nottingham Forest victory

Bogle, who opened the scoring neatly in the 26th minute, put in a fantastic performance down the right hand side for Leeds, further showcasing his continued development in the Premier League.

Dutch defender Struijk took to Instagram to praise the full-back, saying “My motm” in the comments of Bogle’s post.

Bogle joined the club in the summer of 2024, making 44 Championship appearances as Leeds were promoted to the Premier League.

He has since continued to grow into his role in the top-flight, and is now one of the first names on Farke’s teamsheet.

Jayden Bogle has grown into Premier League role perfectly

Bogle has been an ever-present ever since his arrival at Elland Road, with the three games missed this season against Manchester United, Newcastle and former club Derby County being down to a calf injury.

Showcasing supreme versatility, the 25-year-old has proven capable of operating in his more natural right-back role, and the more recent wing-back role under Farke, allowing James Justin to tuck inside at centre-back.

Bogle has been a fantastic asset for Leeds since making his £5 million move across Yorkshire from Sheffield United.

He has adapted to the Premier League seamlessly, despite having less-than-desirable periods in the top flight with the Blades previously.

He takes his well-deserved Man of the Match award from Friday, while Leeds picked up three huge points in their battle for survival.
