Pascal Struijk injury update emerges for Leeds United ahead of clash v Coventry City
Daniel Farke may not risk Pascal Struijk for the clash between Leeds United and Coventry City, according to Leeds Live.
The outlet reported on its website on Saturday (28 September) that the Dutchman is a major doubt for the Whites’ clash with Mark Robins’ side at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon because of an adductor injury.
Leeds will make a late decision on the defender’s involvement in the contest, while both Junior Firpo and Patrick Bamford are expected to be passed fit to feature in some capacity against the Sky Blues.
Can Patrick Bamford play for Leeds United v Coventry City at Elland Road?
While Farke will want to call upon his strongest side for Saturday afternoon’s clash at Elland Road, the Leeds United boss cannot afford to risk Struijk making his injury worse as that could see the defender ruled out long term.
The Dutchman’s absence in the second half of last season had a massive impact on the promotion race in the Championship. While Ethan Ampadu impressed in defence, he is better in midfield and the Whites miss his presence in the middle of the park.
Pushing the Welshman into the backline for one week to partner fellow international Joe Rodon is a price worth paying if it means that Struijk will be fit and available to feature for the remainder of the Championship campaign without injury.

While a win against Coventry would boost Leeds’ hopes of climbing closer to the automatic promotion places, it would be an exaggeration to suggest this game is already a must-win so early on in the season.
Hopefully, whatever side Farke picks manages to claim all three points at Elland Road. Having already lost to Burnley at home this term, supporters will be keen to see the Whites improve their home record sooner rather than later.
