Pascal Struijk injury update drops after Leeds United developments

Daniel Farke has provided an injury update on Pascal Struijk after Leeds United hammered Oxford United 4-0 at Elland Road on Saturday.

The German had revealed before the contest that the 25-year-old had a 50/50 chance to feature after suffering an injury in midweek.

The Whites breezed past the relegation strugglers in dominant fashion on 21 December with Ethan Ampadu replacing Struijk at centre-back, who was on the bench.

Struijk return is a huge boost for Leeds United

Farke’s side face four matches in 10 days over the festive period so Struijk’s fitness will be a major boost.

He had started all 21 of the Whites’ Championship matches before missing the Oxford clash forming a formidable partnership with Joe Rodon.

As a result of his performances, the Dutchman has been linked with a £25 million exit from Elland Road in January with Premier League sides interested in his services. [Caught Offside, 20 December]

However, despite his impressive performances for the Whites this season, Paul Robinson told MOT Leeds News that he is not Premier League quality.

The former Leeds goalkeeper believes that his old club would not entertain a transfer in January due to how important Struijk is in their promotion push.

One thing is for sure, Farke will be ecstatic to have Struijk available for selection again as his side faces a crucial period in their season.
