Pascal Struijk and Jamie Shackleton ruled out for Leeds United clash v Blackburn Rovers
Daniel Farke has confirmed that only Jamie Shackleton and Pascal Struijk are set to miss Leeds United’s clash with Blackburn through injury.
Struijk has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a groin injury [Phil Hay, 28 March], while Shackleton is expected to miss a couple of weeks with an issue of his own.
But all the players have responded well after the 0-0 draw with Sunderland and speaking in his pre-game press conference (12 April), the manager admitted the situation looks much better now than in recent games.
“All the players came through the last game,” he said. “Also for Ethan [Ampadu] it was quite important for him to recover a little bit. At the moment, everyone is in good shape.
“Also it’s good for Willy Gnonto and for Connor Roberts to prepare after their muscle injuries. They came through the last game without any problems, so we’re in a much better position than we were perhaps ten days ago.”
Will Leeds United get promoted to the Premier League?
It’s the obvious question to ask and the elephant in the room, but one thing that is certain is that nothing can or will be decided this weekend.
Leeds missed a huge chance to sit top of the Championship table in midweek with their 0-0 draw against Sunderland, as Leicester lost again and Ipswich were held to a goalless draw themselves.
That means it’s just one win in four games for Farke’s side and it’s the worst possible moment to go on a bad run of form.

But the injury situation at the club is seemingly clearing up a bit now with just Jamie Shackleton and Pascal Struijk missing for this game, and the hope is that with key players returning the rhythm and form of 2024 can return.
In an ideal world the boss can freshen things up a little bit and the team can get back to winning ways, in order to be able to put pressure on their promotion rivals in the early kick-off.
