Parlour shares ‘massive’ Leeds admission after what happened v Sheffield Utd

Ray Parlour had nothing but good things to say about Leeds United after their huge wins against Sunderland and Sheffield United over the last couple of weeks.

The Whites have more than proved their dominance in the Championship and now have a five-point gap between themselves and Chris Wilder’s men.

While Daniel Farke’s team may have gone 1-0 down against their Yorkshire rivals, they never gave up and dug their heels in until the dying embers of the game.

And, thanks to a quickfire double from Ao Tanaka and Joel Piroe, they left Bramall Lane victorious in a 3-1 triumph.

Parlour gives verdict on Leeds United after ‘amazing’ game

Leeds managed to dominate Sheffield United in the second half of their Championship game on Monday but did find themselves on the back foot in the first 45 minutes.

Players such as Dan James and Tanaka were among Leeds’ best performers on the night and without their grit and determination, it’s unlikely that they’d have been as dominant as they have been this season.

And, speaking live on talkSPORT (28 February), Parlour and Alan Brazil gave their verdicts on Leeds’ recent performances.

“I thought Sheffield United were brilliant in the first half, I mean they worked their socks off,” Parlour said.

“I think they run out of steam a bit because they worked so hard in that first half but they showed their class in the end Leeds.”

To which Brazil replied: “Leeds never gave up either, they go right to the whistle.”

Parlour then added: “Some cracking goals as well, some really good goals.”

Later in the show, the topic was revisited with Parlour admitting Leeds had laid down a “statement”.

“It was a massive statement from Leeds’ point of view [beating Sunderland and Sheffield United],” he said.

“1-0 down to Sheffield United and then coming back and winning 3-1 so that was an amazing game.”

Leeds now have one hand on the Championship title

As has been the case for most of the 2024/25 season, Leeds have been one of the most dominant teams in the Championship.

Their main goal from the start of the campaign will have been to secure themselves promotion to the top flight after narrowly missing out last term.

And, with the way things are going in West Yorkshire at the moment, it feels like they’re well on course to do just that.

Leeds have a five-point lead on Wilder’s men in the table and with the purple patch of form that players such as James and Manor Solomon are going through at the moment, it’s hard to see how they’re not going to end up as a Premier League squad next term.

Indeed, football is a constantly changing sport and anything can happen but if we’re being honest, the Whites now have one hand on the title.

And, to be quite frank, the title would be the perfect way for them to round off their season of dominance and would also help with making their case to stay in the top flight next term which so many before have failed to do.
