Paraag Marathe sets Leeds United transfer warchest, £100m-plus ready to go

Leeds United will have to enjoy a successful summer transfer window after clinching promotion back to the Premier League.

The gap between the top-flight and the Championship has widened, and the current Premier League campaign is set to mark the second consecutive season in which all three newly promoted teams have suffered relegation straight back to the second tier.

Leeds have been dominant in the Championship this term, scoring 89 goals in 44 fixtures, but the Premier League is set to pose a different challenge next season.

Paraag Marathe readies massive Leeds transfer window

Daniel Farke’s side yet again showed their class in the Championship with a promotion-clinching 6-0 victory over Stoke on Monday, but supporters will now be anxious to see how their side prepares for the Premier League.

The Daily Mirror has reported in its print edition [23 April, pg 51] that Paraag Marathe has earmarked a massive cash injection for Leeds, who will spend at least £100million on new players this summer.

Farke was previously relegated from the Premier League with Norwich, so may be relieved by the news that he is set for strong backing from Marathe ahead of his attempt to keep the Whites in the top-flight next season.

Leeds supporters will be pleased by Marathe investment news

The Elland Road faithful saw their side survive in the Premier League for three consecutive seasons before suffering relegation back to the Championship in 2023.

Leeds supporters will now hope to see the West Yorkshire giants enjoy a lengthy spell in the top-flight after clinching their second promotion in five years.

But to avoid the threat of relegation next term, the Whites must enjoy a successful summer transfer window, so the news that Marathe is set to invest £100m in players will please fans.

Some supporters may have feared that Marathe and the 49ers could have diverted their attention away from Leeds amid their ongoing Rangers takeover.

But the 49ers’ investment in the Elland Road club this summer demonstrates the consortium’s ongoing commitment to Farke’s men despite their interest in adding Rangers to their portfolio.

Leeds will look to strengthen several areas of their squad ahead of next season, but their interest in River Plate goalkeeper Conan Ledesma is particularly poignant given Illan Meslier’s situation under Farke.
