Paraag Marathe gets informed on Leeds United role amid Rangers takeover twist

Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe is understood to be front and centre of 49ers Enterprises’ quest to buy Rangers.

The San Francisco 49ers chief has held multiple talks over purchasing the Scottish club with the backing of the York family.

The Americans completed their full takeover of Leeds back in 2023 after Andrea Radrizzani was the majority shareholder.

Rangers takeover unlikely to cause issues with Paraag Marathe’s role at Elland Road

Marathe’s legal team have given him assurances that his position in the Elland Road boardroom will not interfere with his quest to buy Rangers on behalf of the 49ers, per the Daily Record.

The American businessman has been involved with Leeds since 2018 and since the full takeover, the overall view of the ownership is that they’ve done a good job.

Getting the Whites back to the Premier League would be the feather in their cap and they appear to be on course towards just doing that.

Leeds United on course to be a Premier League club under Paraag Marathe’s stewardship

Marathe has strategically positioned the club for a Premier League return through a blend of financial acumen, operational stability and ambitious vision.

Leveraging his extensive experience from the San Francisco 49ers, he has instilled a data-driven approach to recruitment and squad management, ensuring compliance with EFL profitability and sustainability rules while maximising investment returns.

His decision to retain Farke, despite a playoff final loss in 2024, reflects a commitment to long-term planning, fostering continuity and trust in a proven tactician who secured 90 points in the 2023-24 Championship season.

Marathe secured a landmark Red Bull partnership in June 2024, injecting vital commercial revenue and enhancing scouting networks, which bolstered Leeds’ transfer market competitiveness without compromising financial stability.
