Pablo Hernandez health scare prompts hospital admission as statement released on ex-Leeds star
Leeds United legend Pablo Hernandez has recently been admitted to hospital to be operated on.
Hernandez is a much-loved figure from his time at Leeds and will always be welcome back to LS11 for his efforts in getting the Whites back to the big time in 2020.
The Spaniard left Elland Road in 2021 to return home and join CD Castellon, where he saw out the rest of his playing career.
Hernandez is now CD Castellon’s head coach, but has been unable to carry out regular duties because of his worrying health issue.
An update on the 40-year-old’s health has now been shared, and it will be sure to put a smile on the face of Leeds fans.
Pablo Hernandez on the mend after health scare
Hernandez’s quality was always going to be hard to replace, as the attacking midfielder was one of the most technically gifted players that Leeds have had in recent years.
His dribbling and playmaking ability were out of this world, and he truly earned his status as a legend.

Hernandez was operated on for renal colic last Sunday, which is a severe pain caused by a kidney stone, with the head coach admitted to hospital before CD Castellon’s last game.
The club have now released a statement.
The statement on CD Castellon‘s official website on Friday read: “CD Castellon informs that the coach was operated on last Sunday for renal colic.
“Despite his efforts to be in charge of the team in the match on Tuesday, his health condition became slightly complicated, which is why it was decided to admit him to the hospital.
“At the moment, Hernandez is evolving favourably and remains under medical supervision, following the indications of health professionals.”
The second-tier Spanish side face Cadiz next in the league this weekend, as assistant coach Sergi Ripolles could take the reins once again, subject to a health evaluation on Hernandez.
With Hernandez hopeful of returning to management soon, he will want to pick up where he left off.
Hernandez is thriving as a manager, the stats are impressive
CD Castellon play in Liga II, and currently sit in fourth place with 31 points from 18 games, with promotion on the cards.
The former Leeds man won his first three games in charge of the Spanish side before hitting a slump in form.
However, the Albinegros are unbeaten in their last seven games.
CD Castellon in all competitions since Pablo Hernandez’ arrival:
- Matches:
- Wins: 9
- Draws: 2
- Losses: 3
Apart from a three-game losing streak in October, Hernandez is showing signs of real promise as a head coach.
