‘Ozil’s face when…’ – Leeds favourite sends Instagram message to Kalvin Phillips
Jermaine Beckford has sent an Instagram message to Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips during their time in lockdown.
The Yorkshire Pirlo put a series of photos onto his official Instagram account on Sunday afternoon as he admitted how much he was missing football.
Both Phillips and Beckford have achieved near-legendary status at Elland Road, the forward for spearheading promotion from League One and the midfielder for nearly doing the same for the Premier League.
One of those pictures was one of Phillips after he had wrestled the ball away from Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil, and the look of discontent on the German’s face clearly tickled Beckford.
“Ozil’s face when he realises you’re closing him down again…” he joked in the comments.
That was followed by a well wish for Phillips and his family with obviously the health of the country much more important than the return of football during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Although that game in the FA Cup ended 1-0 at the Emirates, it was the night that Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa jumped onto the big scene and proved they could make it in the Premier League.
Leeds managed 18 shots on goal and kept 58.6% possession according to WhoScored, as well as 126 more passes against a side considered one of the Premier League’s top-six clubs.
Phillips shined in that game and has attracted the interest of many top sides in the country including that of Champions League holders Liverpool [Bleacher Report].
