‘Only a topic of money’ – C’ship club boss makes bold EFL & FA claim after Tues meeting

Barnsley boss Gerhard Struber has blasted the EFL and the FA after Tuesday’s meeting – one which handed Leeds United a massive boost.

It was confirmed that should the season be curtailed yet again, points-per-game will be used to determine final positions with relegation and promotion retained.

Struber claimed that it proved that the EFL only care about money, rather than the integrity of the competition moving down the line.

Struber didn’t hold back in his criticism of the decision, even going on to say that the EFL have no brains in their head.

“In this difficult circumstance when we speak about integrity and solidarity between leagues and between clubs, I think it’s a big mirror for me about our society when I see what the EFL board and the FA board decided in the last few weeks,” he told the Yorkshire Post.

“I think this is only a topic of money and not a topic of integrity and solidarity. This is my opinion, it’s a big mirror of our society and this moment.”

It seems to be the clubs that are at risk of relegation that have the biggest problems with the outcome of the Championship meeting.

Struber spoke about the integrity of the competition, but if relegation and promotion were scrapped, surely that would do more damage, especially after more than three-quarters of the campaign had been finished.

The Tykes are currently seven points adrift of safety, sitting exactly bottom and they only have themselves, and not the EFL to blame if they get relegated.
