Omid Djalili takes credit for Leeds v Sunderland drama after what he did, ‘Wow’

Leeds United blew many viewers away as they secured a crucial three points at home to Sunderland on Monday evening.

A 2-1 win against Sunderland ensured that the Whites returned back to the summit of the Championship, with 13 games left to be played.

The result provided a huge boost to Leeds’ chances of achieving promotion, with Burnley now seven points behind them in third and Sunderland 10 points behind in fourth.

While Pascal Struijk will receive plenty of the credit for the win after his heroics in front of goal, a very surprised figure has appeared to take some of that credit away from him in favour of gaining it himself.

Award-winning comedian stunned by what Leeds did v Sunderland

Everyone at Elland Road on Monday night (17 February) was fully aware of the magnitude of the game between the two promotion hopefuls.

Had Daniel Farke’s side lost the game, the race for a top-two finish would have been wide open but instead, Leeds were able to extend the gap.

Djalili, the winner of an EMMA Award appears to have taken credit for that in a post he shared on his personal X account after the game.

“Wow, Leeds United! Didn’t want them to lose before my gig on Sunday, saw they were 1-0 down at home against Sunderland so watched trying to send vibes,” said Djalili

“Last second winner, a massive three points and Ethan Ampadu giving a pep talk to go win the league. Fabulous.”

Daniel Farke deserves credit for Leeds win v Sunderland

While Struijk will rightfully earn his praise, Farke deserves just as much for making the decision to introduce the defender with the Whites trailing 1-0 at the time.

Many questioned the decision on social media, but those concerns were quickly curtailed when he rose the highest to flick on two Joe Rothwell crosses to secure a massive victory.

Rothwell was of course another player introduced to the game by Farke, who got his substitutions absolutely spot on, something which has occasionally been used as ammunition to fire at the German boss.

The best managers are those capable of making big decisions in times of need and Farke certainly succeeded in those attempts against the Black Cats who were ultimately forced to rue their lack of depth in comparison to that of Leeds.

With 13 games still to be played, there is a long way to go before Leeds can relax with many twists and turns still to come along the way.

With an away encounter approaching against Sheffield United, the stakes have never been bigger.
