Ollie Watkins delivers Elland Road verdict ahead of Leeds United v Aston Villa
Ollie Watkins has described Elland Road as “hostile”, as Aston Villa will travel to face Leeds United in the Premier League on Sunday (2 October).
The Villa striker suggests that the Whites are in good form at the moment, and he expects a difficult game.
He expects to play collectively away from home, and he is hopeful of getting all three points.
“It’s always hostile going to Elland Road but whenever we’ve gone there, we’ve done really well. But they’re in a good bit of form, difficult game but hopefully we can pull through and get another win away,” said Watkins, as quoted by Birmingham Live.
“I can remember some worldies we scored last year, obviously that’s nice but we just need to go there and work collectively as a team like we did at home, like we did at Southampton and hopefully we come away with three points.”
Villa and Leeds have enjoyed some fantastic rivalries in recent years.
There were some great games played when they were in the Championship, and in the Premier League as well after Leeds made a return.
Last season, Villa came to Elland Road in March and won 3-0 against the Whites.
However, it won’t be easy to beat the Whites easily at home this time around.
After the international break, the focus is now back on the Premier League, and there’s non-stop football before the winter break when the World Cup in Qatar will be held.
The Whites have made a good start to the season, and they are undefeated at Elland Road so far. They picked up two wins and a draw, including a 3-0 victory against Chelsea.
Villa, in contrast, have made a stuttering start to the season, but they have shown great fighting spirit before the international break, as they earned a draw and a win against Manchester City and Southampton respectively.
In other Leeds United news, European newspapers are raving over the “animalistic’” performance of one Whites star on international duty.
