Oli McBurnie sends message to Leeds United ace Kalvin Phillips after England win

Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie admits Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips is “quite good” after yet another assured midfield display for England on Saturday night.

England reached the semi-finals of the European Championships with a straightforward 4-0 win over Ukraine in Rome.

Denmark are all that stand between the Three Lions and a final at Wembley against either Spain or Italy.

After avoiding a yellow card against Ukraine, Phillips will be available for both of those games.

After the win on Saturday, McBurnie was among a number of players to send messages to the 25-year-old Leeds midfielder on Instagram.

McBurnie said: “Quite good, aren’t you? To be fair, Kalv.”

He is quite good, actually

It’s not news that Phillips is a very, very good midfielder.

If anyone has bothered to watch Leeds over the last few years or even had one eye on what happened in the Championship prior to our promotion, they would have seen that Phillips clearly had the potential to be a regular for England.

Jordan Henderson’s injury has helped Phillips settle into the midfield alongside Declan Rice and the two have been phenomenal in helping us reach the semi-finals of the Euros.

It’s our joint-best performance at a European Championships by getting this far and now Denmark lie in wait.

While the Danes have been very impressive, they are unfortunately without star player Christian Eriksen.

They also have some other very good players in their squad but let’s face it, they are not as strong as some of the teams England have already beaten.

If we beat Denmark, it’ll be Italy or Spain in the final and then it’s up to the footballing gods to decide the winner because we cannot call it.

In other Leeds United news, this player has arrived in Leeds ahead of signing for the club.
