Oli McBurnie hails ‘proper’ Leeds player after what Hull star saw in 1-1 draw vs Sunderland
Dominic Calvert-Lewin made history as Leeds United drew 1-1 against Sunderland in the Premier League on Sunday.
Hull City centre-forward Oli McBurnie, who started in the Whites’ academy, was quick to hail the England international, who became the first player to score in six consecutive Premier League games for the West Yorkshire outfit.
Calvert-Lewin was tremendous against Sunderland on 28 December, scoring immediately after the break to equalise for the Peacocks after Simon Adingra’s first-half strike.
Daniel Farke’s team talk at the break at the Stadium of Light turned things around, with the former Everton player the star of the show.

Oli McBurnie sends three-word message after Dominic Calvert-Lewin heroics for Leeds United

The Englishman has continued his red-hot form at the Whites, scoring seven goals in his last six league matches.
John McCole was the last player to score in six consecutive top-flight games for the West Yorkshire outfit in the 1959-60 season.
McBurnie wrote on X on 28 December: “DCL proper striker.”
Farke has subsided talks about his future at Elland Road after leading the Whites to a five-game unbeaten run, with some impressive performances against the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Crystal Palace.
It’s safe to say the Peacocks are now one of the favourites to avoid relegation after opening up a seven-point gap with 18th-place West Ham United.
Daniel Farke transfer priority shifts to another position after Dominic Calvert-Lewin prospects
Calvert-Lewin is now in conversations to make the England squad for the 2026 World Cup, and if he continues in a similar fashion, Thomas Tuchel may not be able to ignore him.
The English striker’s form also makes the addition of a new number nine at Leeds unnecessary in the winter transfer window, with the defence now surely a priority at Elland Road.

It would make sense to sign a new quality centre-back capable of competing with Joe Rodon, Jaka Bijol and Pascal Struijk, with the Wales international’s injury at the Stadium of Light highlighting the uncertainty of the situation.
Farke hasn’t trusted Sebastiaan Bornauw, who has had his own fitness issues in LS11, but it remains to be seen whether 49ers Enterprises plan to back the German manager in January.
