Oli McBurnie blown away by latest Leeds transfer news as ‘stunning’ message sent

Sheffield United forward Oli McBurnie has sent Joe Rodon a message on social media following his loan move to Leeds United.

Rodon joined up with Leeds from Tottenham (10 August) and was met with a wave of congratulations on social media including his former Swansea City teammate McBurnie.

The Premier League striker, who played for Leeds in his youth, took to Instagram to share his well-wishes to the 25-year-old centre-back, saying: “Stunning my boy.”

Exciting

When Rodon made the loan switch to Leeds, many were excited about the Welshman dropping down to the Championship.

His time at Tottenham has not been entirely successful as he failed to solidify a starting role among the likes of Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez, and now he finds himself on his second loan since arriving in North London in 2020.

However, he will hope to reestablish himself as a quality centre-back, and former teammate McBurnie backs him to do so.

Leeds United

The pair shared a club at Swansea City while they were in the Premier League, but due to both going out on various loan spells, they shared a pitch in the Championship.

Now, while McBurnie returns to the Premier League following Sheffield United’s promotion, Rodon will step down a division, but the move is certainly set to improve his career and earn him more minutes than he would have got at Tottenham

Leeds fans will hope Rodon can live up to McBurnie’s verdict as they look for their first league win of the season against Birmingham on Saturday (12 August).
