‘Oh my days’, ‘Announce relegation’, ‘Ouch’ – Many Leeds fans gutted as Phil Hay relays update

Leeds United fans are gutted on Twitter after it was confirmed that Pablo Hernandez will miss the match against Cardiff on Sunday.

Hernandez, 35, may be getting on a bit now but he has still been one of the most influential players at Elland Road under Marcelo Bielsa’s leadership.

One stat speaks volumes about the Spaniard’s importance to the side as out of the nine Championship games he has missed this season, Leeds have won just three times.

Whenever he’s unavailable, Leeds really miss the talismanic veteran and that is what is going to happen this weekend when the Whites travel to play Cardiff behind closed doors at the Cardiff City Stadium.

“Pablo is returning to training next Wednesday,” Bielsa said, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, in his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

It’s not the end of the world because Bielsa does have Tyler Roberts to step in and start against the Bluebirds and the Welsh international has done nothing but impress since training resumed last month.

However there are plenty of Leeds fans who are not at all confident of their side’s chances after seeing that Hernandez has been ruled out of the game.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

It could have been worse but at least Hernandez will be back in training on Wednesday and should be able to play a role against Fulham next week when Leeds return to Elland Road.

Roberts is more than good enough to step up and stand in for the Spanish playmaker but we would have rather had him available.

In other Leeds United news, Ian Holloway has been as blunt as he can in this prediction about the Whites.
