‘Oh god’ – Alan Shearer winces at what he saw in Leeds United defeat vs Fulham
Leeds fell to their second defeat of the season away to Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
Premier League survival is the goal for Leeds this season, and having failed to win any of their last three encounters, their chances of succumbing to relegation have increased.
The lack of attacking options at Daniel Farke’s disposal is a big reason behind that, with the Whites having only scored one goal this season, and that was from a penalty.
Fulham secured a 1-0 victory against Leeds on their last Premier League outing, with Alan Shearer wincing at one incident in the clash.

Alan Shearer shared sympathy for Gabriel Gudmundsson after Leeds error
When things aren’t going your way in the Premier League, you are certainly more than aware of it, and that was the case for Leeds.
Just as it looked as though Farke’s side were set for a valuable away point, Gudmundsson, under no pressure at all, fired a bullet header into the back of his own net.
Understandably so, Gudmundsson was in tears in the Leeds dressing room, with Shearer sharing the sympathy he had for the Swedish defender after the game.
Via the Rest Is Football podcast, he said: ” Oh god. Kevin had the shot, and the keeper saved it; they got the corner.
“Then, yeah, there’s not a lot he could do, to be honest. I actually felt for him like most people did.”
Leeds cannot afford to make errors this season
It’s easier said than done, but Leeds need to cut out incidents like the one that cost them a point against Fulham on Saturday.
Every game is going to be a contest in the Premier League, and as experienced in cruel circumstances at Craven Cottage, one error can define a game.
In general, Leeds’ defeat to Arsenal aside, they have defended well, having conceded just five xG in the first four games, a feat that places them in the top nine of the league.
However, once again, xG means nothing if one lapse of concentration can cost you a goal, which, at this level, can and often does cost you the game.
Farke needs to ensure that his side remains focused throughout an entire game, or incidents like this will repeat themselves as the campaign goes on.
