Official bid status shared as Everton want to sign Leeds United ace Wilfried Gnonto
Doubts have reportedly emerged over Everton being able to secure the services of Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto this summer.
According to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Joe Donnohue, an official bid is yet to be made by the Toffees despite reports to the contrary.
There are also doubts apart from him moving to Goodison Park as to whether they even have the funds to secure his services.
Via Twitter, Donnohue wrote, “Leeds United yet to receive a bid from Everton for Willy Gnonto, despite reports to contrary this wk. There are doubts the 19 y/o would even be interested in a Goodison move, or if #EFC have the capital to sign him. Club remain hopeful of retention in 23/24.”
Makes sense
Despite Leeds’ relegation, they’re in a better financial situation than Everton so it makes sense that the Toffees cannot afford his services.
The Whites have parachute payments and new owners coming in while their northern counterparts are toiling with FFP sanctions and need to look at loans and free agent signings this summer.
Gnonto is among the biggest assets at Elland Road and even after relegation Leeds must stand their ground and demand a good fee.

If he wants to stay then that’s just what Daniel Farke and the fans would want too as he’s undoubtedly among the most talented players at the club.
He’s still young and playing regularly in the Championship and scoring goals in abundance may just be what he needs to go to the next level.
It remains to be seen what he decides to do as the next few weeks will be extremely key for the Whites.
In other Leeds United news, the club have been handed a boost to sign a Manchester United player this summer with Erik ten Hag likely to sanction his exit.
