‘Obscene’, ‘Got to be kidding’ – These Leeds fans react to significant transfer update

The transfer saga surrounding Ben White is about to enter the end game and there are plenty of Leeds United fans who are ready to give up on their dreams of signing the centre-back.

Brighton started training today and manager Graham Potter has said he wants to run the rule over White before possibly offering him a bigger contract.

White has resisted new offers from the south-coast club so far.

Meanwhile, Mirror journalist David Anderson said that Leeds United are willing to bid £30m+ for the player but wouldn’t match Brighton’s valuation of £40m.

Plenty of fans think that Leeds should walk away if this is how much Brighton want for their player – and you can understand why they’ve taken that stance.

White hadn’t played as high as the Championship when he joined Leeds last summer and he’s never been tested in the Premier League. £40m is a ridiculous sum of money to be asking.

He might take the Premier League by storm. But, with all due respect, we think he’s got a much bigger chance of doing that under Bielsa than under Potter.

One fan said Brighton were being “greedy” and said he’d like White to force their arm and put in a transfer request.

Another said that even £25m would be an “obscene” amount of money for a player in this current climate and with no fans back in grounds.

This fan said that Marcelo Bielsa can do the same thing with another unknown defender. This shift from Ben White being essential is interesting and proves that fans don’t just want their club to throw money around willy-nilly.

Here are the rest of the reactions to the Anderson update…
