Nottingham Forest plan new contract for Brennan Johnson, Leeds want to sign him

Leeds United have been linked with numerous new signings in typical fashion already this summer.

Victor Orta has already delivered some of the brightest talents at Elland Road, with Lewis Bate and Sean McGurk making the switch.

Another promising talent linked with the move is Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson, after impressing at Lincoln on loan.

The Athletic has provided a major update on his future.

It is reported that Forest are confident of tying down the 20-year-old to a new deal at the City Ground beyond next season.

Johnson is also set for a role in Chris Hughton’s plans next season as he plans a big revival in the Championship.

After starring in a pre-season clash with Crewe in the number 10 role, the youngster is expected to be sticking around – despite big Premier League interest.

Move on.

Johnson may have an exciting future ahead of him, but he hasn’t even proved himself in the Championship as of yet.

With only two starts behind him in the second-tier, he needs to do it there before making the big step to the top-flight.

Former Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi talked himself into a corner when facing Marcelo Bielsa and the Whites in the Championship, but he has also hailed Johnson.

The 20-year-old was described as “unbelievable” during his tenure at the City Ground in a glowing reference.

It looks as though we can wave goodbye to this one, but it won’t be a major blow to our transfer plans this summer and beyond.
