‘Not good enough’, ‘That aged well’ – Some Leeds fans react to Galloway’s Bamford tweet
Some Leeds United fans have reacted after former MP George Galloway took to Twitter to criticise Patrick Bamford before he scored a hattrick against Aston Villa.
Bamford scored three second-half goals as Leeds secured all three points at Villa Park on Friday night, moving Marcelo Bielsa’s side up to third in the Premier League table.
Galloway tweeted during half-time that Bamford isn’t ‘good enough’ at the Premier League level, which left him red-faced after the 27-year-old’s second-half performance.
Bamford has now scored six goals in six top-flight games this season which ranks him third in the Premier League goalscoring table, behind Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min and Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
He has drawn level with Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah who also has six Premier League goals this season which suggests that Bamford very much can cut it in the English top-flight.
There were doubts before the season around whether Bamford would be good enough to compete in the Premier League, as he only had one top-flight goal to his name before the season started.
But he has well and truly silenced the critics with goals against Liverpool, Fulham, Sheffield United and now Aston Villa. Friday’s game was also the second time that Bamford’s goals have secured all three points for Leeds this season, following his late winner in a 1-0 win at Bramall lane.
Some Leeds fans took to Twitter to poke fun at Galloway, with many having a good laugh at his terribly timed tweet.
