Norwich City star Shane Duffy arrested and charged days before Leeds United play-off showdown
Norwich City defender Shane Duffy has been arrested and charged with driving while unfit just days before the play-off semi-final first leg with Leeds United.
As per BBC News [9 May], Duffy – who has played 36 times for the Canaries in the Championship this term – was arrested in Hethersett, near Norwich, on Monday (6 May).
Duffy was subsequently charged and will appear before magistrates in July. Norfolk Police confirmed that nobody was injured in the two-vehicle accident.
Norwich are set to host Leeds at Carrow Road on Sunday (12 May), before the return leg at Elland Road four days later.
Will Shane Duffy play for Norwich City against Leeds United?
The BBC report adds that Norwich are aware of an incident involving one of their players, but nothing has been said publicly at this stage.
Norwich boss David Wagner will no doubt be asked about the incident when he speaks at his pre-match press conference, although there is only so much he can say.
Whether or not Duffy plays will come down to whether he is both physically and mentally okay to feature six days on from the accident.

Should he play no part, whether through his own choice or the manager’s it would be a massive blow for Norwich – and therefore a big boost for Leeds.
Duffy has been a regular in the heart of the Canaries’ defence this season and played 75 minutes against Birmingham City on the final day of the regular campaign.
Wagner does have other options, but you’d assume Duffy would be nailed on to start if not for this incident. All we can do is wait to see the team sheet when it drops at 11am on Sunday (12 May).
