Norwich City keep tabs on Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell

Norwich City are “checking” on Leeds United youngster Charlie Cresswell, who is currently on loan at Millwall, as per Alan Nixon.

The Sun journalist wrote on his Patreon (9 October) that the Canaries want the “powerful” defender who has impressed during his loan spell.

The 20-year-old centre-back is very much part of Jesse Marsch’s long-term plans, but Norwich are still sniffing around in case they change their mind.

Nixon wrote on his Patreon: “Norwich City are checking on Leeds centre half Charlie Cresswell during his loan spell at Millwall.

“The Canaries are on alert for the powerful defender who has dropped to the Championship for games.

“Cresswell is still part of the Leeds plans but Norwich are hanging around in case that changes in the long term.”

No way

Cresswell is a fantastic talent to have progressed from the academy and there’s no way Leeds should be even thinking of parting ways.

He has already played for the senior side under Marcelo Bielsa, and he is part of Jesse Marsch’s plans as well.

At the moment, the Whites have a plethora of central defenders, and hence Marsch sent him out on loan to gain more experience.

He is too good a player for the junior team or the reserves, and he needed to play regularly for his development.

The youngster has managed nine appearances in the Championship already and has three goals and an assist to his name already.

Cresswell is a powerful defender who looked quite comfortable in the Premier League as well. He has made six senior appearances, of which five have come in the Premier League.

He is definitely the future of the club, and unless Norwich City come up with a ridiculous amount of money, the Whites should not be entertaining the idea of selling him.
