Noa Lang: Leeds United flew to the Netherlands and tabled three bids

Club Brugge attacker Noa Lang has confirmed that Leeds United flew to the Netherlands last summer to negotiate a summer move.

He also admits that the Whites tabled three transfer offers in order to sign him, but to no avail.

A year on, the Dutchman is linked with a move away from the club and thus far, has refused to rule out a summer exit.

He told Het Laatste Nieuws, “It is not yet certain that match against Anderlecht was my last for Club.

“As long as I am under contract, and there is nothing concrete, I will never refuse to play for Club. They do not deserve that. By the way, for the same money, it will all start in August, just like last year.

“They were concrete, yes. Leeds made three offers. We even negotiated, they flew to the Netherlands.”

Missed opportunity?

Lang had an incredible 2021/22 campaign where he terrified Europe’s top teams in the Champions League.

Had the Whites pushed a little bit harder for him, there’s a good chance they would’ve signed him.

At the time, the Marcelo Bielsa pull would’ve also played a huge role as he convinced Raphinha to give up playing in the Champions League for a move to Elland Road.

Instead, the club signed Dan James and that move did not pan out as the club would’ve wanted it to.

Now, Lang will surely will be on the radar of bigger clubs and this will be exactly like the Rodrigo de Paul situation.

Leeds had a chance to sign him at Udinese and now he’s at Atletico Madrid challenging for trophies.

If Jesse Marsch and the hierarchy can convince Lang to join then it will be a huge coup and one that the Elland Road faithful will celebrate, especially if Raphinha leaves and he’s signed as a replacement.

In Leeds United news, an under-the-radar court case involving the transfer of a Leeds player has reached its conclusion with the final payout revealed.
