‘No way’, ‘Disaster’ – These Leeds fans ‘gutted’ by bad news coming out of club

We were thrilled when Leeds United youngster Ryan Edmondson was signed by Aberdeen on loan and put straight on for his debut against Rangers in the first game of the Scottish Premiership.

He’s struggled to make an impact in the Leeds side despite banging in goals for fun in the Under-23s.

However, the chance of first-team football on a big stage has been snatched cruelly away from the young Leeds striker again.

Aberdeen confirmed that Edmondson has suffered an ankle injury in training and is likely out for 3-4 months.

The player has now returned to Leeds to begin his rehabilitation.

Edmondson himself tweeted to say, “Absolutely gutted but I can assure you all that I will try to get back fit and join the boys back up at Pittodrie soon.”

If that’s going to happen, Leeds will probably need to loan him out for the second half of the season – which means the injury has effectively put his career back six months. And, Aberdeen, will obviously have to replace him now which means the move might not even be on later.

Edmondson had already been hit with bad luck, with Aberdeen’s fixtures postponed because of a breach in the Coronavirus guidelines.

They were due to travel to Celtic this weekend in one of the biggest fixtures of the season.

Instead, Edmondson is on his way back to Thorp Arch for an appointment with Rob Price. At least we know he’s in good hands there.

It’s desperately sad news and one that was met with dismay by Leeds fans…
