‘No doubts’ – Leeds gave Nantes written record before Jean-Kevin Augustin deal
Leeds United and RB Leipzig look set to continue their dispute over Jean-Kevin Augustin despite the strikers’ recent move.
French club, Nantes have announced the signing of Augustin this week after his contract was mutually terminated in Germany.
It was assumed at first that the legal battle between Leeds and Leipzig would end, but that isn’t the case.
Did Nantes have any doubts over signing Augustin?
President of the Ligue 1 club, Franck Kita reassured fans that he had received written records from both Leeds and Leipzig over Augustin.
“We have no doubts, we have a written record from both clubs,” he told RMC Sport.
“Experience shows me that we should not take risks. We did not take risks.”
Going to FIFA…
Regardless of the fact that Augustin is no longer with Leipzig or Leeds at the beginning of this season, the battle has continued.
German outlet BILD reported last week that Leipzig have taken their complaints to FIFA over Leeds’ failure to meet their obligation.
They claimed on their website that it is now in the hands of the lawyers after the governing body approved Augustin’s move back to France.
Leeds will be hoping that their defence of the clause expiring in June will go in their favour, given that the season was extended until the end of July.
Augustin will be concentrating on his football this season, but the eyes of everyone else will continue to be stuck on this ongoing legal battle.
